Perched on the 22nd floor of the Aria Hotel on Sukhumvit 11, Pastel is the perfect place to kick off your evening with friends or family, whether you’re in the mood for sundowners or dinner. My husband and I were excited to be invited to try their menu. While we’ve known Pastel as a lively bar and party spot, we were curious to see what their dinner offerings were like.
We arrived before sunset, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the rooftop view and sip on their signature drinks in the golden light. Pastel transforms into a party scene around 9:30 PM, with dimmed lights and louder music, so we chose to enjoy an early sundowner and dinner before the crowd rolled in. Now, let me tell you about the delicious dishes we tried…
Pastel Bites: These delightful little French toasts will have you drooling for more. From the left, we start with one of my favorite ingredients—bone marrow. The Bone Marrow Toast features beef marrow with garlic and parsley. Next up is a signature pastel Uni Toast with uni, lemon gel, and aïoli.

Small Plate: Carpaccio Iberico—slow-cooked and thinly sliced Presa Iberico with green apple, pistachio, and Parmigiano. This dish is as light and delicious as it looks, making it a perfect small plate.

Raw Bar: This was one of my favorites on the table and a signature dish at Pastel—Hamachi Ceviche. It features hamachi slices with leche de tigre, yellow pepper coulis, and coriander cress.

Raw Bar: Sea Bass Crudo features delicate slices of sea bass paired with crisp radish, creamy avocado, and a tangy miso mayonnaise. This dish combines fresh flavors and smooth textures for a refreshing and sophisticated appetizer.

Pasta: Wagyu Beef Raviolis “Niçois” These homemade raviolis are filled with succulent Provencal pulled beef cheek and drizzled with rich tomato beef juice. Each bite of these luscious parcels is a burst of flavor that will make your taste buds dance with delight.

Main Course: Grilled Codfish served with cauliflower and broccoli tabbouleh, accompanied by garlic cream, beurre blanc, and basil oil. The codfish is perfectly grilled to achieve a tender, flaky texture, while the tabbouleh adds a vibrant, fresh crunch. The garlic cream and beurre blanc create a rich, velvety sauce, and the basil oil provides a fragrant finish, tying the dish together with layers of flavor and sophistication.

Well, we can’t forget about the desserts… which I highly recommend sharing, given their epic size. They’re practically begging for a team effort!
Dessert: Pastel Chocolate Mousse, Valrhona Chocolate Mousse, Candied Hazelnuts & Praline Ice Cream and Lemon Pavlova Meringue With Lemon Sorbet, Lemon Curd & Whipped Cream

The Rooftop! Bangkok has no shortage of rooftops with unique decor and design, and Pastel is definitely one of them. It’s got a ceiling to shield you from the blazing sun or unexpected rain, yet it remains airy and spacious. One section is air-conditioned, so you can enjoy a cool breeze even on those steamy Bangkok nights. Plus, the booth-like tables offer a cozy sense of privacy—perfect for date nights. During our visit, they had a jungle theme going on, making it extra lush and green. It was like dining in a tropical oasis!

Drinks and Cocktails! Being a rooftop bar, it’s practically mandatory to try their signature cocktails—after all, it’s sundowner time! Their drink menu is extensive, featuring a mix of innovative concoctions, classic favorites, and a selection of wines and beers. And yes, they’ve got non-alcoholic options too. So whether you’re in the mood for something new or sticking with the classics, there’s a perfect drink for everyone to enjoy as the sun sets. Cheers to that!

The Chef! Kilian Fioretto, a one-star Michelin chef from Switzerland renowned for his work at Les Montagnards – Le Sommet à Broc, has embarked on an exciting new chapter in Bangkok. After years of acclaim in Europe, Fioretto was drawn to Bangkok by his passion for Asian cuisine and a desire to delve into innovative culinary ideas, including fusion dishes. This adventurous spirit brought him to Pastel, where he now brings his expertise and creative flair as the executive chef.
